Heya!

I'm a Game Developer specialising in technical design based in Leeds, UK.

I'm Emily. I'm a game developer and technical designer from up North.
I graduated from Teesside University with a BSc. (Hons) Technical Games Development in 2022.
From a very young age, and up to the present day, video games have served as my main outlet for everything from exploration to creativity, socialisation to self-discovery. This medium has shaped me into who I am today, and it's one that I want to give back to.I want to share my passion with the world, and with my creativity and intuition, give people the same sense of belonging that brought me to where I stand today.

That's me!

About

The woman, the myth, the Emily.

I grew up in the northern half of Leeds for all of my childhood. Growing up, my parents loved to travel a lot. It's on these cross-country car trips where I'd come to fully appreciate video games and view them as an art form.My time in College and University taught me to not just love games, but love the art of creation as a whole. In my off-time, you can find me producing light-hearted history documentaries, running a website about Progressive Metal, and perhaps indulging in a Strategy game or old Nintendo game, or two.

That's me!

Imbalanced Humors

August 25th 2023

Over the course of two weeks, I tasked with designing, prototyping, and polishing a unique spell for the player character to cast in INFINITY27's upcoming game Samsara as part of their Skills Bootcamp initiative. Its a poisonous area-of-effect spell called "Imbalanced Humours", designed to make the player strategise and think more about their actions. It's a tricky spell to master and you're likely to get caught in your own crossfire if not careful, but it's an incredibly fun spell to play around with!(See full statement HERE)

Our Path Unbeaten

May 18th 2022

My final year project at University, where I was tasked with creating a short game based around a unique mechanic over the course of 12 weeks. My mechanic of choice was hopping in and out of a vehicle, inspired by the Blaster Master games on the NES. This allowed for the changing the gameplay dynamic on the fly, and allowing for a wider variety of platforming challenges. Our Path Unbeaten is an evolution of the 2D collect-a-thon formula inspired by the Adobe Flash game Super Mario 63. The game is themed around ambition and discovery, and is based around the swapping between playing in a vehicle and on foot, giving extra depth to the game's branching paths.

Fur-ever RETRO

December 31st 2021

Through October to December 2021, I had been working on a 3D couch co-op platform fighting game with a group of University friends called "Fur-ever After". Shortly before Christmas that year, I tasked myself with creating a small remake of our game, but made to look as though it were released on the NES in the 80s. For added comedy, I wanted to get this done before the new year, and without any of my teammates knowing. Hilarious, I know.Fur-ever Retro is a two-player platform fighting game based rather loosely on fairytale mythos. Collect coins and knock coins out of your opponent to win.

Radio Waves

August 20th 2020

In October 2019, I created a prototype of a game where you assymetrically control two robots in a grid-base chamber. Just under a year later, I decided to spend two weeks expanding upon this controller base and develop it into a full game.Radio Waves is an asymetric puzzle game where the player controls two crate-robots, solving various puzzles through a series of rooms, overseen by a mysterious sign painter. It's like something between "Sokoban" and "A Tale of Two Sons."
